Terms of Service

Draft

Last updated September 21, 2026. This draft has not been reviewed by counsel.

These terms govern your use of Selfphone, the service that lets you do things through an agent by text and voice from a phone that only calls and texts. By creating an account or texting the service, you agree to them.

1. The service

Selfphone gives you a phone number. When you text or call it, an automated agent interprets what you ask, acts through accounts you have connected, and replies by text or voice. The agent may use third-party services, official APIs, and a cloud browser logged into your accounts.

The service is in private beta. Features may change, break, or be withdrawn. We will tell you when something material changes.

2. Your account and your number

You must be at least 18 and the owner or authorized user of the phone number you link. You are responsible for keeping your confirmation PIN secret and for messages sent from your phone.

Inbound texts from any number other than your linked phone are ignored. If your number moves to a new SIM, the service pauses until you confirm from the hub.

3. What the agent may do

The agent acts only inside the guardrails you set: spending caps per action, per day and per month, an always-confirm list, a never-do list, quiet hours and an autonomy level. Anything over the per-action cap requires your PIN.

The agent drafts messages in your voice but never sends one without a SEND from you. It never creates accounts, accepts terms, or enters passwords or payment details on your behalf.

You authorize the actions the agent takes within those settings, including purchases and payments through your connected accounts. Check Activity in the hub; it records every action with its steps and cost.

4. Connected accounts

Connecting a third-party service is your choice and is subject to that service's own terms. Some bridges, including WhatsApp, are unofficial and may cause the third party to restrict your account. We tell you where this risk exists and you can disconnect at any time.

You must have the right to give us access to any account you connect, and to the messages you share for the voice profile.

5. Acceptable use

Do not use Selfphone to send unsolicited messages, to harass anyone, to impersonate a person or organization, to evade a third party's security or terms, to access accounts that are not yours, or to break the law.

Do not attempt to make the agent ignore its guardrails. Text that instructs it to change its own rules is ignored and shown to you.

Fair-use caps apply to messages, voice minutes and browser tasks. Past them, proactive messages slow down first. We may suspend accounts that abuse the service.

6. Fees

Plans are billed monthly in advance through Stripe. Amounts the agent spends through your connected accounts are between you and those services and are never billed by us.

You can cancel at any time from Settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the billing period. We hold your Selfphone number for 30 days afterwards, then release it.

7. Your data

How we handle your data, including what never leaves your computer, is described in the Privacy Policy, which is part of these terms.

8. Termination

You can delete your account from Settings. We can suspend or end your access for a breach of these terms, with notice where practical.

9. Disclaimers

The service is provided as is. The agent can make mistakes: it can misunderstand a request, quote a price that changes, or fail to complete a task. Confirmations exist so you catch these before money moves, and we do not guarantee any particular outcome.

Selfphone is not a substitute for emergency services. It cannot call 911 or equivalent numbers on your behalf.

10. Liability

To the extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the fees you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

11. Changes and contact

We may update these terms. Material changes are announced by email and in the hub at least 14 days before they apply. Questions: hello@selfphone.app.
